Hi everyone,
I turned 46 yesterday and had a lovely day celebrating with my family. Turning a year older is always a great moment for me to reflect on the year that has just passed and I have so much in which to be thankful. Now that I’m solidly in my mid-40s (some would say, late 40s, ha), I’m finding that it is the process of creating things (like writing this newsletter) that I appreciate the most. I’m especially thankful to all of you for taking the time to read this newsletter each week. The process of creation and the thought of my writing helping you in some small way each week brings me great joy. Happy reading!

- How To Excel At Productive Procrastination: What if….and hear me out….Procrastinators are simply experts at prioritizing the most important item on their to-do list at the expense of things that can be put off until later? There’s a name for people like this, they’re called productive procrastinators.
Tip: The best productive procrastinators I know are experts at prioritization and planning. Take a moment to determine what is most important to you and tackle that first each day. Austin Kleon wrote a great post about productive procrastination. Check it out here .

Less than ten years ago, creatives had to be discovered by someone in their field and identified as talented in order to have a shot at making it on their chosen path. Gatekeepers told the vast majority of passionate creatives that their work wasn’t good enough to be considered. Today, creatives don’t have to wait for gatekeepers to validate their work. They can validate their work themselves.
Tip: The best way to jump into the creative economy is to study and learn about the latest trends in the field. Youtube published their three top creator economy trends recently and I really appreciate how this article frames this emerging field.

Once or twice a month I lay in bed hours after I had hoped to fall asleep, replaying a moment in the day I desperately wanted to go differently. I think one big reason I have difficulty practicing self-compassion in those moments is because I’m a creative. It makes me wonder why so many creatives I know struggle with self-compassion like I do.
Tip: While I am no expert, there are many great resources out there to help you practice self-compassion. One resource I love is a newsletter called Nesslabs , which provides weekly mindful productivity strategies that I find particularly useful to my own self-compassion practice. - I earned my excel degree on youtube. This site will generate formulas for you in a fraction of the time.
- The Cabinet of Wikipedian Curiosities offers a bonkers list of fun facts from Wikipedia.
- This site (randomly) uses CT machines to scan everyday objects.
- Philosophy Bro provides astonishingly clear explanations of really complex ideas.
